Well, I lost my way this past winter.

My parents, who are both 84 years old, started needing more attention. Initially, it was my dad's first surgery that kicked things off and then the second one really put me over the edge.

Yes, the health care practitioner who preaches healthy eating fell off the wagon, gained 10 pounds and ended up feeling uncomfortable and bloated.

Now, I am back on track, and eating and drinking greens.

My best friend went to a raw food workshop and came back with a wealth of knowledge, which she has kindly shared with me.

What I found most interesting about her journey, as she calls it, is that it is not just about eating RAW food, it is really about WHY we don't want to be kind to ourselves.

Is it about never having time to make and eat the food that will help us feel good? Are we overwhelmed; do we feel alone on this path?

This is why I have decided to make this a very intrical part of my life. (By the way, I know the word INTRICAL is not in the dictionary, though it does appear in some urban dictionaries. This doesn’t stop me from using it. You see I make up words all of the time. It’s one of my quirky personality traits you will hopefully, grow to love!)

So, the next time you feel overwhelmed about having your next meal or snack, just think about what kind of foods you would offer to a small child who loved to eat. When you own food choices, treat yourself with the same loving kindness that you would this child.  Please let me know in the comments how you know when you’re not on track and what you do to get back on them!
